On August 18th our friend, our classmate, our teammate Cristian Mejia who is 7 years old collapsed and was life-flighted to Childrens’ Hospital. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in which he had to undergo two surgeries to try and remove it. He’s been in a drug induced coma for about a month and recently the doctors decided to bring him out of it. He is still in the process of trying to wake up and the doctors are very optimistic that it will just be a matter of time before he does. With a brain injury everyone responds differently and in their own time. With time we all pray that he will regain his strength. His tumor was also found to be malignant, so he will begin chemotherapy after regaining some of his strength.   Cristian’s parents continue to be by his side day and night.

In an effort to assist the Mejia family with expenses in this unfortunate time, a bank account at Discovery Bank in San Marcos has been set up in the name of Cristian Mejia. The kindness of so many people and the support of so many different families have touched the Mejia Family in more ways than they could ever imagine.
